"The Promotion" was the third episode of the sixth season and the shows 103rd episode overall. It was written and directed by Jennifer Celotta who also wrote Company Picnic and The Duel.
Synopsis
Michael is uneasy with the idea that Jim is co-manager, and Jim strives to end purposeless meetings. David Wallace reveals the unfortunate news that not everyone will get raises, which cause Michael and Jim to mark the worth of each employee, using beans on people's pictures. Dwight reaches his breaking point with Jim and struggles to get allies in the office. Meanwhile, Pam has a very awkward time getting the office to bring money for the wedding instead of gifts.
