"A really well written character based episode. Charles shines a light on Michael’s incompetence and Jim’s laziness. Will this drive them forward to change and grow? The answer will say a lot about the kind of television show The Office wants to be. But for now this is quality stuff." [http://www.thetvcritic.org/new-boss/ - The TV Critic's Review]

"The New Boss" is the eighteenth episode of the fifth season of the television series The Office, and the show's eighty-third episode overall. The episode will air in the United States on March 19, 2009, on NBC at 9 p.m. EST.

Synopsis

Michael has big plans for his 15th anniversary party at Dunder Mifflin, but is in for a shock when the new, no-nonsense Vice President has some ideas of his own. Michael was used to the lax policies that the former Vice Presidents had taken, but the company was taking a more micromanaged approach with the new hire.

Jim wears a tuxedo to make a prank out of Dwight's dress code memos. Of course, the day that he wears a tuxedo, the new boss comes in, so the first impression that he tries to make obviously does not go well.

After trying multiple times to bypass the new Vice President, Charles Miner, to talk with David Wallace, Michael decides to take matters into his own hands by driving to New York to talk with him in person. Fed up with the horrible treatment he was getting after serving the company for 15 years, Michael unexpectedly quits, leaving Wallace stunned.
